1st - 2nd Grade Youth Machine Pitch Game Manager

Description: The Vineyard City Recreation 1st-2nd Grade Youth Machine Pitch League games will take place between June 13th – August 1st. Games are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm, 6:30pm, & 7:30pm. The Youth Machine Pitch League consists of 8 games per team and excludes a post-season tournament.

The Game Manager works under the general supervision of Vineyard City’s Parks and Rec Director and/or Recreation Coordinators. Responsibilities include feeding baseballs into the pitching machine, officiating gameplay, keeping track of the score and line ups, promoting good sportsmanship, teaching the rules of the sport to participants when necessary, setting up and cleaning up on gamedays, and performing other tasks as deemed necessary by Vineyard’s Recreation Department to ensure a quality program. Communication through hand signals is required throughout game play. One Game Manager is assigned per game. The Game Manager will receive in-person training before the 1st scheduled day of games to ensure knowledge of gameplay rules. Consistent training sessions will be provided throughout the season, along with 1-2 mid-season evaluations to help ensure clarity on officiating. Approximately 7 hours of work per week are expected.


  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Great public relations, customer service, and organization skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with both youth and adults
  • Physically capable of lifting 25+lbs, if necessary
  • Pass a background check
  • Aptitude for following basic safety precautions and procedures
  • Capacity to make sound decisions in sometimes stressful environments
  • Possess general knowledge of baseball rules and be willing to learn. Previous officiating experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work Tuesday and/or Thursday evening games, as assigned by Vineyard’s Recreation Department.
  • First Aid certified preferred, but not required
